First the floor, then the counters, then the backsplash (then the floor again because the backsplash worker gouged the floor- but this was done for free.) We only had to be out of the kitchen for 2 days at a time, each go round so it was much more doable for us. I do feel your pain, though.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7301586145140787353.post-63497030896575162542016-10-14T10:56:20.100-05:002016-10-14T10:56:20.100-05:00I am married to a contractor, and I feel your pain...I am married to a contractor, and I feel your pain. Because, when we undertook major reno work, we Did It "OURselves", which means here and there and on weekends and FOR ALL ETERNITY SO HELP ME GOD. My entire kitchen was in my dining room for approximately eleventy billion years, which is how long I was finding drywall dust in every single nook and cranny of my whole house and body, but let's not go there.

Did he/we hang plastic curtain barriers to mitigate the dust? Oh, certainly. That does not matter at all.

All of which is to say, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Wear your halo with pride and purpose. Buy an expensive crystal wineglass and vow to drink elegantly (and more). Make sure you put in that kitchen exactly what you want NOW. You don't want to ever, ever have to do anything to it ever again.

Bless you.Nancehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17627214346956206283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7301586145140787353.post-69047845797289897602016-10-14T07:31:54.357-05:002016-10-14T07:31:54.357-05:00I have a few friends who've been brave enough ...I have a few friends who've been brave enough to do a kitchen remodel. All of them took months and most of them moved out for the duration. Those who did not completely enclosed the work area in plastic and temporary plywood walls.

You are brave. I don't think I could live through a kitchen remodel. The refrigerator is fantastic, as your new kitchen will be and you will appreciate it sooooo much after this! (Those people on HGTV are barely inconvenienced half the time, and probablynever lift a dustrag ...maybe they aren't as grateful for a lack of dust and full size sink)Andreahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01294308714313220666noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7301586145140787353.post-44175214148403464002016-10-13T20:13:43.952-05:002016-10-13T20:13:43.952-05:00Oh wow. That said, I can't wait to see the final version and I know it will be worth it.
The idea of that gash in the countertop makes me cringe. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
