My feelings can best be expressed in song.

Wow – there was such a backlash against my offhand comment about making a mix tape. I love it!

So, of course, I think we should all brainstorm on the worst, tackiest, most awful post-break-up mix tape songs ever. Because it’s fun, not because I will actually make a mix tape. I promise. And also because I desperately need something to laugh about, as I sent the “please don’t contact me any more” e-mail today, even though really, really I do want to see him and talk to him but it just hurts too much. And I just pretty much want to die.

So. Let us focus on the task at hand.

My suggestions for the World’s Most Awkward and Humiliating Mix Tape:

I admit that I have quoted one of these songs to Mr. Wonderful. But I’ll never tell which one.

And now that I’m completely and totally depressed … your turn. Readers?

The very moment that I saw today's blog topic, the lyrics to the New Kids on the Block "I'll Be Loving You Forever" came coursing through my head.

I have now taken tylenol.

No break-up mix tape is complete without the theme from Ice Castles.

oh no! i may have to come back with suggestions later. at this time i am to overwhelmed by the fact that each and every one of these songs has had a place in my heart for precisely this reason! you had me at air supply baby. i was a total air supply fan in high school.

Perfectly heinous music to match how you're feeling.
PS. Did the package make it ?

I have few suggestions for you. I am musically inept. It has only been since I have had teenagers that I have discovered music as unrealistic and ridiculous as that sounds. But, I grew up in the boonies with pre-recordered fm stations so there wasn't a whole lot to listen to which should serve well in this search for bad music. How about "Achy Breaky Heart"? It's pretty awful.

It doesn't fit with your current theme/purpose of the mix tape but what little I know about Mr. Loserpants, "You're So Vain" comes to mind. It's actually a great empowering song so it might not fit.

Glad to see you working through all of this! You're gonna make it after all! (which reminds me of my favorite independent woman type show - Mary Tyler Moore - one of my most favorite shows of all time!)

Obama won, and Cha Cha is going to make it through this breakup. I can feel it. I think it's called hope.

To add to your mixtape:
America, "I Need You" (Like the flower needs the rain)
The Beatles, "I Need You"
The Mamas and The Papas, "I Call Your Name"
Eagles, "Best of My Love"
Barry Gibb, "Then You Left Me"
Bee Gees, "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart"

Oh man, you crack me up! The Way We Were, that is like my #1! I also think you need to include Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again (on my own)" because really? So timelessly hair metal.

this is really a doozy of a break up mix. once when I had a particularly sad breakup, one of my friends made me a two part mix (tape). Side was was called The Aftermath, side two was The Revival. Guess which side I listened to more... from that side was this song:
Divorce Song by Liz Phair. It's perfect for a break up mix.

Hysterical. I could cry a mile to that list! My addition -- Bonnie Raitt, I Can't Make You Love Me. That was my painful break up song. After dumping me for his old girlfriend (I split them up, I'm sorry to say), he left town without saying good-bye AFTER I specifically asked him to at least say good-bye. I listened to that song for hours.

Oh definitely How Do I Live Without You. Covered by several artists but the Mariah Carey version is the sobbiest.

Here via Mrs G, hope you're doing ok.
